I couldn't believe these were buttons Julia Gerlach used in her charming necklace. By using chain links, she dressed them up like beads!.
I love the way Connie Whittaker paired tiny crystal buttons with SuperDuos in this wearable bracelet.
These little Crystaletts fit nicely down the middle of my two-drop peyote stitch band, and add a nice touch to the edging.
Julia Gerlach blew my doors off with this stunning Viking knit necklace with its beautiful button focal. I want it!
At the offices of Bead&Button, we are so used to making elaborate jewelry with pearls, crystals, two-holed beads, etc., you might think we would be stymied by the simplest component - like a button. Not so! November 16th is National Button Day and several months ago, Editor Julia Gerlach asked us to design a project using buttons in honor of this day. I have done some designing with buttons and if you're interested, you can read my previous blog about how I turned my grandfather's American Legion button into a necklace. But that's another story.
In honor of National Button Day Julia designed two fabulous projects: “Button fringe necklace," and "Going Viking." Connie Whittaker combined little crystal buttons with SuperDuos in her “Button bridges bracelet.” And finally, I embellish a two-drop peyote band with crystal buttons in my “Cute as a button” bracelet.
We hope you enjoy these projects, and while we're on the subject of buttons, be sure to visit Button Corner on our website to read interesting articles from the National Button Society about collecting buttons and the rich history of buttons!
