Bead&Button's 20th anniversary bead.
Associate Editor Connie Whittaker's "Enduring drops necklace," using the anniversary bead. This project will be featured in the December issue.
Bead&Button is turning 20! Crossing the threshold from teen to twenty-something is a big deal for people, so why not for a magazine?
To celebrate this milestone, we've commissioned a special bead from glass artist Lydia Muell. If that name sounds familiar, it should! We featured an artist spotlight of Lydia in our April issue this year. (You might remember her for her interest in Renaissance decor, royal colorways, and astrological connections.)
The 1.25-inch lentil bead she designed for Bead&Button has been described as having a warm "Tuscan" palette, a subtle organic motif, and a versatile flat back so you can use it as a cab if you like. The bead will be available in November, but you can pre-order yours now at www.BeadAndButton.com/anniversarybead.
Not sure what you'll do with your bead? We've got you covered! Every issue of Bead&Button during our anniversary year will feature a step-by-step project using the bead. We kick off the series in our December issue with Associate Editor Connie Whittaker's "Enduring drops necklace." Connie cleverly mimics the shapes in the anniversary bead by using SuperDuos, pearls, and drop beads in her necklace. And what do you know -- it's wearable!
Whether you've been with Bead&Button from the beginning or are new to our little corner of the newsstand, we're pleased to welcome you to our birthday celebration!
