It’s one of the most exciting times of the year. No, it’s not an official holiday, but it is in our eyes. The Bead&Button Show is just days away, and as the biggest consumer bead show in the world, attendees from across the globe will participate in more than 600 bead and jewelry classes and shop more than 370 vendors selling both finished jewelry and precious gems, pearls and more.

The Bead&Button Show is presented by Bead&Button, Bead Style and Art Jewelry magazines, and is held at the Delta Center in Milwaukee, Wis., from May 29-June 10. Bead groups, individual beaders and shoppers attend the show from all over the world – including Japan, Germany, Australia and every one of the United States. Linda Lysandrou is the leader of a Chicago-area bead group and attends the show each year with other members.
“It is the most anticipated event of the year,” Linda says. “It’s awesome to meet the people you’ve been buying from all year and see new and exciting things. It is the most amazing day of the year for us.”
Linda’s love for beading began in 2008, when she found a pair of crystal snowmen earrings at a craft show. After that, she was hooked – she began exploring beading websites and stores to learn all that she could about beading. In 2009 she started her very own bead group, which later grew from 2 to 35 members.
“This group means the world to me,” Linda says. “I’ve never missed a meeting in over four years.”
Jennifer Donner-Reichel has been a member of Linda’s bead group for more than two years. She says, “Finding this group is one of the best things that has happened to me. Getting to know the gals and guys in our group is so much fun and has inspired me to try new techniques and finish some long-standing projects.”
This year, 20 members of Linda’s bead group will be traveling to Milwaukee for the 2013 Bead&Button Show, and they couldn’t be more excited about it.
