Free bracelet project using the new Twin beads

If you haven't tried the newest two-hole bead, the Czech-made Twin bead, then here is the perfect project to get you started!

Gemini bracelet

Materials:

10 g Twin (2 hole) beads (Czech, silky gold iris)

1-2 g 6/0 seed beads (Miyuki 1426, dyed silver-lined blue zircon)

2-3 g 8/0 seed beads (Toho 1207, marbled opaque turquoise/blue)

1 g 15/0 seed beads (Miyuki 462, metallic gold iris)

clasp

2 6 mm jump rings

Fireline 6 lb. test

beading needles, #12

2 pairs of pliers

First component

[1] On 15 in. (38 cm) of Fireline, pick up a 6/0 seed bead and six twin beads. Sew through all the beads again, leaving a 9-in. (23 cm) tail. Step up through the 6/0 (figure 1).

[2] Pick up six Twin beads, and sew back through the 6/0 and the beads just added. Step up through the 6/0.

[3] Sew through the available hole of the adjacent Twin bead in the first component (figure 2). Pick up a 15/0, an 8/0, and a 15/0, and sew through the available hole of the next Twin bead. Repeat this stitch four times, and then sew through the next Twin bead without adding the 15/0, 8/0, and 15/0. Pick up a 15/0, an 8/0, and a 15/0, and sew through the available hole of the next Twin bead. Repeat this stitch four more times, and then sew through the hole of the next Twin bead without adding any beads (figure 3). End the working thread but not the tail.

Subsequent components

Repeat steps 1-3 of "First component," but in step 3, in the third repeat, sew through the corresponding 15/0, 8/0, and 15/0 of the previous component to join (figure 4), and then continue the repeat. Make and join as many components as desired.

Clasp

[1] Once your bracelet has reached the desired length minus the clasp, sew through the end component to exit a 15/0 on one side of the end 8/0 opposite the join. Pick up seven 15/0s, and sew through the 15/0 on the other side of the end 8/0. Retrace the thread path, and end the thread.

[2] With the tail from the first component, sew through the beadwork to exit a 15/0 on one side of the center 8/0 opposite the join. Pick up seven 15/0s, and sew through the 15/0 on the other side of the center 8/0. Retrace the thread path, and end any remaining threads.

[3] Open a 6 mm jump ring, and attach the seven-bead loop on one end of the bracelet and half the clasp. Repeat on the remaining end of the bracelet.

Could anyone tell me where to buy the twin hole beads and the seed beads to go with it? Sure would appreciate it, as I haven't seen these before. Thank you.

I've found Twin beads at kandrasbeads.com, sparklespot.com, agrainofsand.com and midwestbeads.com. I'm sure there are other sources, let us know if you find them somewhere else. - Jane

Buy them at your local independent beadstore.  I'm sure if she doesn't yet carry the Twins, she'd be happy to bring them in!

To answer the question regarding the Twin two hole beads go to Shipwreckbeads.com or call (800)950-4232 9am-6pm PST.  They carry a variety of these beads. I have received their newsletter via email for a couple of years now and they seem to carry the latest and greatest. When you sign up, you will receive a member number and every Friday they draw around 5 member numbers and if you win you will receive $100 to $500 to their store.  Right now they are offering a sale through Thursday for 15% off telephone and web orders. The twin beads come in a pack of 25 and up starting at $3.00 and up.  Hope this information is helpful. Rita from San Diego, California.

sailorsgrl, you'll have to print from your computer browser or else copy/paste the text into a Word document. (I'm not sure if the illustrations would come with, though.) You could also take a "screen shot" if you have such a tool on your computer.
